I am not writing this to wax political, but to give honor where honor is due.
No matter your personal or political beliefs, today, November 11th, is Veterans Day, a day for honoring our military veterans; those brave men and women who proudly served our country.
To those soldiers who left families and loved ones behind, they did so with a strong conviction for protecting what this nation stands for, FREEDOM.
Some soldiers were fortunate to come home, while others will forever lay in silence either here or on foreign soil, but never forgotten.
To my father, thank you for your sacrifice and serving in WWII battles far beyond my comprehension. You survived that horrific day on the bloodiest beaches of Normandy’s D-Day. Like war does to many soldiers you came home silent, never to tell your story.
Rest in Peace Pappa. N.W. Swenson, Sargent, US Army. WWII Veteran.
“Not in vain” may be the pride of those who survived and the epitaph of those who fell.”
