Heaven on Earth Write & Ride Retreat

There’s a Lot Happening—Where to Begin

My newest mantra is: ‘If you don’t go, you will never know.’ A truer statement I’ve never heard when the years ahead of us are shorter than those we left behind.  While international travel isn’t on my calendar this year, there may be exciting possibilities ahead in 2027.

One adventure I am thrilled about is the Heaven on Earth Write & Ride Retreat at the Vee Bar RanchPhoto by JHM in Laramie, Wyoming, this May. The retreat is hosted by author and artist Jayme H. Mansfield.  I’ll be attending with my longtime writing friend Janice Hurff, who publishes under the name Susanna Lane. Although we’ve shared countless Zoom events and writing conversations over the years, this will be our first time meeting in person.

The Vee Bar Ranch sits in the breathtaking Centennial Valley, about twenty miles west of Laramie. It has been far too long since I last visited the wide‑open beauty of Wyoming, but I remember well how stunning this part of the country is. While I won’t be riding (doctor’s orders), I fully intend to explore the ranch, enjoy the scenery, groom the horses, and yes—I even volunteered to help muck out the stalls.

Janice and I have reserved one of the rustic riverside two‑bedroom suites.  While she’s out riding, you’ll likely find me on the porch, laptop and notebook in hand, working on my next Western historical novel.

And speaking of writing—thank you to all of my readers who have been patiently awaiting Book Three of my Desert Hills Trilogy ‘I Can Love You the Best’. I’m delighted to share that it will be released Summer 2026. Keep an eye on my website and my author Facebook page for updates as we get closer to launch.
